Raise to Wake Not Working on iPhone 15 Pro, How to Fix

Last Updated: October 13, 2023 by Moses Gitari

Raise to Wake allows you to automatically wakes the Lock Screen when you raise your iPhone 15 Pro to look at it.From there, you can quickly check your notifications, access Control Center, swipe left to take a photo, or swipe right to access widgets. You simply raise your iPhone to your face. Sometimes, Raise to Wake doesn’t work on iPhone 15 Pro.

If you are having this problem, here is how to fix it.

Note: information in this article apply to iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

How to fix Raise to Wake not working on iPhone 15 Pro issue

If Raise to Wake is not working on your iPhone 15 Pro, meaning your phone doesn’t wake the Lock Screen automatically when you raise your device to look at it, this can probably be fixed by following a few simple troubleshooting steps.

Make sure Raise to Wake is enabled on your iPhone 15 Pro

Though the ‘Raise to Wake’ is enabled on iPhone 15 Pro by default, I suggest re-enabling it.

  1. Launch Settings.
  2. Tap Display & Brightness.
  3. Find the Raise to Wake option. If it’s off, tap it to turn it on. If it’s already turned on, tap it to disable, wait a moment, and tap it again to turn it back on. Now check if this resolved your problem.

Ensure that your iPhone is up to date

It’s also likely Raise To Wake is not working on iPhone 15 Pro because of software bugs. You can fix this by updating your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.

  1. Launch Settings.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap Software Update.

Restart your iPhone

In many cases, Raise to Wake feature may stop working on your iPhone 15 Pro because of minor glitches. Turning off and on your iPhone should help in this situation.

  1. Press and hold the side button and one of the volume buttons together until you see the power off slider.
  2. Drag the slider to the right. Wait for it to turn off.
  3. Press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears.

Force restart iPhone

If restarting does not fix the iPhone 15 Pro Raise to Wake problem, you will need to force restart your phone. In fact, I was having this exact issue with my iPhone 15 Pro. When I forced my iPhone to restart, my problem was fixed. Here is how you can do this:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume up button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume down button.
  3. Press and hold the side button. If you see the power off screen, ignore it. Keep holding the side button until your screen goes black and you see the Apple logo. When you see the Apple logo, release the side button.
  4. Your iPhone will restart.

Remove your case or screen protector

Some third-party case or screen protector may interfere with your iPhone’s sensors. Your iPhone’s sensors are critical to Raise to Wake’s performance. Try removing your case or screen protector to see if this solves your problem.

If your case or screen protector is causing problems, remove the case or screen protector and use another one that causes no problems.

Reset all iPhone settings

Still no luck, and Raise To Wake won’t work on your iPhone 15 Pro? Resetting all iOS settings may help fix the problem.

  1. Launch Settings.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Select Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  4. Choose Reset.
  5. Tap Reset All Settings and follow onscreen instructions.

Contact Apple Support

If you are still facing problems, you may have a hardware problem. For example, your proximity sensor may be bad. You should contact Apple Support for further help.

Learn about Raise to Wake and Tap to Wake

Raise to Wake lights up your iPhone screen when you lift your iPhone. And with Tap to Wake, your iPhone display turns on just by a single tap/touch. Both these settings are enabled by default.
