Are you unable to hear the other person during a call on your iPhone 15 Pro? Is your iPhone 15 Pro ear speaker not working? If you are unable to hear the caller’s voice through the iPhone 15 Pro receiver, this troubleshooting guide will help you fix the issue for good!
Note: information in this article apply to iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
How to Fix iPhone 15 Pro No Sound on phone call
The fixes below are listed from easiest to hardest to help you troubleshoot the problem and identify its root cause so you don’t run into this problem again. Follow these troubleshooting steps in the order presented to get your iPhone 15 Pro working properly again:
Look for any obstructions to your ear speaker
Make sure that nothing is covering the ear speaker on your iPhone 15 Pro. A poorly placed screen protector or case is one of the most common causes of sound distortions during calls. Try removing the case or screen protector on your iPhone and try again.
Check for cellular signal
If you still can’t hear, or have phone conversations that are choppy, where the voice of the other person disappear and reappear so that you can only hear portions of the conversation, the network or reception could be the issue.
If this is the case, you should try moving to an area or location with a stronger signal. Note that certain locations and premises — such as tunnels and underground car parks — will prevent you from receiving any signal. As such, look for places on or above ground that aren’t too remote (i.e., that aren’t out in the middle of nowhere)
Also, ask the other person on the other end of the call 2 move to an area or location with a stronger signal.
Is the sound being played through headphones?
If your iPhone 15 Pro is connected to a Bluetooth audio device, it will send the sound to the device, not the ear speaker on your phone. Turn off Bluetooth so sounds play from the iPhone.
Swipe down from the top-right of the iPhone screen to open Control Center. Look at the audio icon — if there is an icon of a pair of headphones there, then the iPhone is still connected to them. To disconnect them, you can tap the Bluetooth icon in Control Center to switch Bluetooth off. Alternatively, go into Bluetooth settings and tell the iPhone to Forget This Device. You would have to re-pair the headphones with your iPhone later, but that’s no biggie.
Increase the sound volume while in a call
If you still can’t hear the person on the other end of your iPhone 15 Pro, the sound volume may be turned down too low to hear. Try to set the in-call volume to maximum.
During a phone call, use the hardware volume buttons on the left side of the iPhone 15 Pro to adjust the in-call volume.
- The upper button increases the volume.
- The lower button decreases the volume.
Please note: The in-call volume can be adjusted only during the phone call because these settings are independent of the other volume settings on your iPhone.
Make sure your iPhone is up-to-date
If adjusting the volume doesn’t do the trick, try updating your iPhone to the latest version of iOS. In rare cases, the lack of sound during phone call on iPhone 15 Pro may be the result of an iOS bug. An iOS update might fix your iPhone 15 Pro call sound problem.
To update your iPhone, head over to Settings > General > Software Update. Make sure your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi and has sufficient battery life or is connected to a power source before initiating the update. An update may take several minutes.
Restart your iPhone
If you still don’t hear any sound during phone call, restart the iPhone.
To restart your iPhone, press and hold one of the Volume buttons (up or down) and the Side button until the power off slider appears. Then, drag the slider. Now press the side button to turn your iPhone back on.
Reset all settings
If none of the above steps resolve your iPhone 15 Pro call sound issue, reset the iPhone settings. This resets the sound, display, and network settings to the iPhone defaults. . This does not affect your personal data, such as photos, videos, contacts, or apps.
Tap Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset All Settings and then follow the onscreen instructions.
Contact Apple Support
If none of the above steps works, you may have a hardware problem such as damaged ear speaker. Whatever the issue, your only course is to contact Apple. On the Apple support webpage, you can choose options such as sending your phone to an Apple Repair Center, finding an authorized service provider, or scheduling an appointment to get support from a Genius at an Apple Store.
