Mail App Not Loading Emails on iPhone 12? 10 Fixes To Try!

Last Updated: July 28, 2022 by iPhoneArena Staff

If your emails won’t load on iPhone 12, Don’t panic! In this article, we’ll show you how to fix the problem when the iPhone 12 Mail app is not loading emails!

The iPhone’s Mail app generally works well with most email service providers. But several reasons—such as conflicting system settings, software-related issues, and differences in email protocols—can prevent it from updating your mailboxes.

Issues like this can make you miss out on important emails, which can be costly if you don’t resolve them quickly. Luckily, we’ll show you ways to fix when the Mail app won’t load emails on your iPhone 12.

how to fix the iPhone 12 Mail app when emails won’t load

If you have any problems with the Mail app not loading emails on iPhone 12, the solutions and suggestions below should help you fix that.

Note: The solutions in this article apply to iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

1. Check your internet connection

Do you have a strong enough cellular or Wi-Fi signal? If your signal is too weak, or you’re not connected at all, emails won’t load on your iPhone 12.

To connect to a cellular network, go to Settings > Cellular > and move the Cellular Data slider to off/white and then back to on/green.

To connect to a Wi-Fi network, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn on the Wi-Fi toggle.

It’s also smart to make sure Airplane Mode isn’t turned on. Airplane mode can block connections to cellular data and Wi-Fi networks.

Also try getting closer to a wireless signal and see if the inbox refresh works afterwards.

2. Try refreshing the inbox again

Sometimes the problem can be due to a hiccup in your internet connection or your connection to the server. This is a best-case scenario! You can easily work around this by simply pulling down in your inbox to refresh your content.

3. Close And Reopen The Mail App

This is a simple, yet very functional troubleshooting tip that works most of the time. Often, simply closing and reopening Mail might fix any local issues. Just bring up the App Switcher on your iPhone and swipe up the Mail app card. Then, relaunch Mail. In most cases, that should help fix the iPhone 12 not loading email issue.

4. Restart Your iPhone

If you continue to have issues loading emails on your iPhone 12, try restarting your device before moving on with the rest of the fixes. It may sound silly, but this is seriously the most common troubleshooting tip, and it seems to work most times. Seriously, whenever you’re having problems with your tech, just restart it. It just may fix it. Go to Settings > General > Shut Down.

5. Update iOS On Your iPhone

Another key troubleshooting step when the Mail app won’t load emails on iPhone 12 is to make sure you have the latest version of the iOS. Updated versions of the iOS deliver bug fixes and improvements to features. It’s possible that the problems with your email are the result of a bug that’s fixed with the latest iOS update or that your email provider has changed some settings and only the latest iOS version works with the change. Go to settings > general software update. If an update is available, tap download & install.

6. Remove and re-add the problematic email account

In some cases, the incoming and outgoing server information for your email account may no longer be accepted by the email server. If your iPhone 12 can’t get an email, try removing your email account and re-adding it so that the Mail app can auto-configure the proper settings to refresh your email inbox. Doing so will hopefully fix your “iPhone 12 mail app not loading emails” problems.

To do this, you’ll need first to remove your email account from the Mail app. Head to Settings > Mail > Accounts, tap the problematic account, and choose Delete Account to take it off your phone. Then, re-add the same account by going to Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account.

7. Delete And Reinstall The Mail App

If the Mail app is still not loading emails on iPhone 12, it’s a good idea to delete and reinstall the Mail App.

Start by deleting the Mail app from your iPhone 12. Then, reboot your iPhone, reinstall Mail from the App Store, and set everything up from scratch.

8. Reset Network Settings

You can patch out broken or corrupt network configurations from interfering with Mail by resetting the network settings on your iPhone 12. Head to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

9. Contact your email provider for support

If your iPhone 12 still isn’t receiving emails, it’s time to get some direct tech support for your email problems. A good first step is to check with your email provider (Google for Gmail, Yahoo for Yahoo Mail, etc.). Each email provider has different ways to provide support, but a good bet is to log into your email account on the web and then look for links like Help or Support.

10. Get help directly from Apple

If you find Mail app not working on iPhone 12 after contacting your email provider, you may have a problem that’s bigger or more complex than you can solve. In that case, it’s probably best to take your iPhone — and all of the information about the email account — to your nearest Apple Store for tech support (you can also chat with Apple online. Apple Stores are busy places, though, so make a Genius Bar appointment before heading out to make sure you get help.

If it’s a work account, check with your IT department. If you’re trying to check a work email account, it may be that the problem doesn’t lie with your iPhone 12 at all. The problem might reside on the email server that you’re trying to get email from.

A temporary problem with that server or a configuration change that you’re not aware of could block your iPhone’s access. If the account that’s not working is provided by your job, check with your company’s IT department and see if they can help resolve the problem.
