My iPhone 11 Won’t Turn Off! Here’s The Fix.

Last Updated: November 1, 2022 by Moses Gitari

Having a iPhone 11 won’t shut down problem is like having a baby that refuses to go to sleep. Surprisingly, this is quite a common problem. But although it’s quite frustrating, it’s usually not that hard to fix. If your iPhone 11 won’t turn off, don’t fright. Here are a few ways you can try to fix it yourself.

We’ve all encountered the problem when an iPhone 11 won’t shut down. Pressing the side and volume buttons doesn’t always help. Or your iPhone 11 simply won’t turn on because of glitches. These situations are pretty common.

This happens for various reasons. Most likely a frozen application is the culprit for your iPhone 11 won’t shut down. However, an issue may arise at any one of the multiple stages of the shutdown process. Whatever the reason, this article will find a solution to your iPhone 11 not shutting down:

How to turn off an iPhone 11

The basic process of shutting down an iPhone 11 is very simple. You can power off your iPhone 11 in two ways:

  • You can head to Settings > General > Shut Down, the power-off slider appears, and then drag the slider to the right.
  • Alternatively, you can press and hold the side button and either volume button until you see the power off slider and then drag the slider to the right.

How to fix an iPhone 11 that won’t shut down

There’s no simple answer to fix an iPhone 11 that has problems shutting down. It could be caused by a variety of different problems. Here are some troubleshoooting steps that we advise you to try. Go through each one at a time and see if it solves the problem:

Force restart your iPhone

Sometimes your iPhone 11 won’t shut down because it has frozen. If you think that might have happened, try to force it to restart. This will not erase the content currently on your iPhone. You can do this even when your screen or buttons are not responding when you touch or press. Here’s how:

  1. Press and release the Volume Up button.
  2. Press and release the Volume Down button.
  3. Press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears, then release the Side button. If you see the “slide to power off” screen, ignore it.

Update iOS

Missed iOS updates can cause all sorts of issues — from Wi-Fi problem to iPhone 11 not shutting down. They also bear important security features which, if not put in place, may compromise your phone’s protection.

You can update your phone by heading to Settings > General > Software Update. You can also turn on and customize Automatic Updates.

Ensure that all of your apps are up to date

If an application is out of date, it may start frequently crashing or become incompatible with your iPhone’s software. Check if any updates are available for your applications by going to the App Store app on your iPhone. Again you may want to turn on Automatic Updates.

If a certain app is causing this issue, for example, when you want to launch the app, your iPhone 11 touchscreen becomes unresponsive, then ensure that the app is updated to the latest version, if this does not fix it, you can contact its developer for further help or you can uninstall it.

Contact Apple Support

Please contact Apple Support, if you have one of the following issues:

  • Your Volume, or Side buttons are stuck or broken. So you cannot force restart your iPhone.
  • Your iPhone 11 shows a black screen but you know it is working because you hear notifications or sounds.
These issues may indicate a hardware problem. You can make a Genius Bar appointment. Your device may still have warranty coverage, including AppleCare.

Fixed iPhone 11 won’t shut down

Hopefully, you’ve fixed the problem and your iPhone 11 is shutting down normally! Next time your iPhone 11 won’t turn off, you’ll know how to fix the problem.
