iPhone 14 pro Alarm Not Working? 10 Tips to Fix the Issue

Last Updated: September 24, 2022 by iPhoneArena Staff

Is your iPhone 14 Pro alarm not working? The good news is that you can fix your iPhone 14 Pro alarm problem and not miss your wake-up alarm. In this article, I’ll explain why your iPhone 14 Pro alarm is not working and show you how to fix the problem, step-by-step.

One of the more basic functions our iPhones have that we use so often and sometimes overlook is telling the time. It is such a simple yet integral function of an iOS device. The clock app on iPhones also allows its user to set up timers and alarms.

Recently, users discovered that their iPhone 14 Pro alarm is not working. If you are also having the problem of iPhone 14 Pro alarm not going off when needed, here are the steps to fix the issue.

How to fix alarm not working on iPhone 14 Pro

Here’s how to resolve the alarm not working on iPhone 14 Pro issue.

Note: The information in this article apply to iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

1. Restart your iPhone

Like many tech problems, the simplest solution is to restart the device. When Alarm isn’t working on iPhone 14 Pro, the same logic applies. Restart your device, and it may instantly solve your iPhone 14 Pro alarm not working issue. You can restart your iPhone by going to Settings > General > Shut Down.

2. Turn Up The Ringer Volume

This might sound obvious, but don’t skip over this step. It’s actually possible to turn up the volume with the buttons on the side of your phone without actually increasing the alarm volume. This is because the iPhone 14 Pro lets you control two completely different sets of sounds with the same buttons.

For example, if you have a music streaming app open, using the buttons will control that volume instead of the alarm volume. This means that if your alarm volume is down or off (even if your music volume is up), you’ll have a silent alarm.

Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics, and make sure RINGER AND ALERTS is set to a reasonable volume. Also here is the Change with Buttons option, which you should disable if you want to make sure the ringer and alarm volume never change when you change the system volume with the buttons.

To test the sound without waiting for the alarm to go off, open Clock > Alarm, tap Edit, and select an alarm. Go to Sound and pick a ringtone from the list; if you can hear it, it should work just fine when the alarm actually goes off.

3. Change the alarm sound

Some of the iPhone 14 Pro alarm sounds are quieter than others, so if you have one of those chosen—and especially if the alarm volume isn’t loud, either—you might not hear it go off. Something else to watch out for is to make sure None isn’t chosen as the alarm sound, for obvious reasons.

Open the Alarm tab, tap Edit, and then choose the alarm you want to change the sound for. Go to Sound and preview the ringtones or songs to find something you think will work for you.

4. Check the Alarm’s Time Settings

If your alarm goes off but it’s silent, then this method won’t help you. However, for iPhone 14 Pro alarms that are set in the app but that don’t go off at the designated time, you might not have the correct time or day set up.

For instance, if your alarm is supposed to go off every day at 10:30 PM, and it worked yesterday but not today, the alarm is most likely not set up to repeat.

Click Edit in the Alarm section of the Clock app, and then tap the alarm you need to edit. Go into the Repeat settings and make sure there’s a checkmark next to the days of the week for when you want the alarm to go off. Just tap a day to enable or disable the alarm for that day.

If your alarm goes off at the wrong time during the day, then you most likely confused AM and PM, which is surprisingly easy to do. Edit the alarm and change it to the appropriate time of day, and be sure to tap Save when you’re done.

5. Make sure your iPhone isn’t connected to a Bluetooth device

Another way your alarm might sound but still not get your attention: The audio might be playing through a connected audio device, like headphones, earbuds, or a portable speaker that’s in another room. You can ensure there are no connected Bluetooth devices, or simply toggle Bluetooth off and then turn it back on again. Any devices will disconnect and the alarm should play through the iPhone’s speaker.

To do that, swipe down from the top right of the screen to see the Control Center. Tap the Bluetooth icon in the top left, then wait about five seconds. Then you can turn Bluetooth back on again (or, if you prefer, simply leave it off).

6. Delete and Remake the Alarm

For whatever reason, the iPhone 14 Pro might not have created the alarm correctly. Or, maybe it worked for a while but then stopped because of a glitch or incompatibility issue after an iOS update.

Open the Clock app to the Alarm tab, and either swipe left to delete the alarms or go to Edit first and then tap the red minus buttons to find the Delete option. You can make new iPhone alarms with the plus button on the upper right-hand corner of the Clock app.

7. Update iOS

Many users with iPhone 14 Pro alarm sound problems are using an outdated version of iOS. There could be a software bug in your phone that’s only resolved through an update from Apple.

You can update your phone by going to Settings > General > Software Update, or plug it into your computer and update with iTunes. Either way, make sure you’re using the most up-to-date firmware version.

8. Reset All Settings

This should be the very last thing you do to fix an iPhone 14 Pro alarm that has no sound because when you restore your iPhone, everything in the Settings app is restored to factory defaults. In the process, it should also fix any iPhone 14 Pro alarm issues. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset All Settings.

9. Use a different alarm app

If you have tried everything in this list and your iPhone 14 Pro alarms are still not working, it might be time to move on from the Clock app. There are a lot of third party alarm apps for the iPhone, and you can probably find alternatives that you like as well (or better) than the Clock app. Some of the best alternative alarm apps include Loud Alarm Clock, Alarmy, and Alarm Clock for Me.

10. Repair Options

If your alarms still aren’t working on your iPhone 14 Pro, it may be experiencing a hardware problem. There could be a speaker issue if your iPhone isn’t making any noises at all. My article about how to fix an iPhone 14 Pro speaker that’s not working explains how to fix the problem. You can also visit your local Apple Store or use the mail-in options at Apple’s support website to have your iPhone repaired.
