13 Pro tips to fix Calendar alerts not working on iPhone 13

Last Updated: November 1, 2022 by Moses Gitari

If your iPhone 13 isn’t receiving calendar alerts or playing sound, consider these solutions.

You might not get calendar notifications on your iPhone 13 due to misconfigured settings or software bugs. Usually, the issue is temporary and can be solved by some quick, straightforward fixes.

If your iPhone 13 Calendar alert isn’t working, or your device isn’t showing notifications for Calendar, look at these handy solutions to fix this issue.

Note: information in this article apply to iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

1. Check Notification Settings for Calender

When you aren’t receiving iPhone 13 calendar notifications, make sure the Calendar app is permitted to show them on the Lock Screen, Notification Center, and elsewhere.

To do this:

  1. Open Settings and tap Notifications > Calender.
  2. Ensure Allow Notifications is green.
  3. Next, check the boxes for Lock Screen, Notification Center, and Banners.

2. Turn Off Silent Mode and Focus

After you put your iPhone 13 in silent mode, calendar won’t have a notification tone. To fix this, turn off silent mode by pushing up the switch that’s above the volume buttons.

Secondly, when your iPhone 13 is in Focus mode, it does not vibrate or play a sound for calender notifications. You can fix this by opening the iOS Control Center and ensuring the Focus mode is off.

3. Disconnect Bluetooth Devices

If you forget and leave Bluetooth buds or devices connected to your iPhone, the Calendar sound may output via that instead of the on-device speaker. To fix this, open the Settings app and turn off Bluetooth. Or, you may also disconnect these devices from the iOS Control Center by tapping the Bluetooth icon.

4. Restart your iPhone

Often, things might not work correctly on your iPhone due to temporary glitches. Usually, a quick restart fixes these issues.

To turn off your iPhone, use the physical buttons or go to Settings > General and tap Shut Down. After a minute, turn on your iPhone either by using the power button or plugging in your charger.

5. Set a repeat frequency for routines

Some events may occur on a regular basis, and having to add these multiple times can be a pain but there is a way to make them repeat automatically.

If an event you’re setting an alert for is a routine, merely scheduling notification for it notifies you the first time and doesn’t repeat this for subsequent schedules unless specified. Hence, you might think the calendar alert isn’t working after all—since you probably expect it to alert you subsequently for that event, but it doesn’t.

As you are adding the event details select the Repeat option. From here, choose from some default options such as Every Day or Every Month so that they recur.

If the event repeats on a different timeframe then tap Custom. From here, tap Frequency and choose from the options. For example, you may have a meeting that takes place on the 2nd of every month. You could therefore select the Monthly option and then tap number two in the calendar layout.

6. Check Sound Settings for Calendar

Your iPhone 13 might not have a sound assigned to calendar alerts, which can cause you to miss important reminders. Open ”Settings,” tap ”Sounds & Haptics,” and then check the ”Ringer and Alerts” volume slider to make sure it is set at an audible level. Scroll down to Calendar Alerts, and then select a tone that grabs your attention. In this window, you can also select a custom vibration for your calendar alerts. Make sure to avoid the ”None” selection, because this silences your calendar alerts.

7. Ensure you are signed in to your Apple ID

When you are not signed in to your Apple ID on your iPhone, your calendar app won’t be able to sync with your iCloud. This can be another reason why you are not getting alerts from your calendar app regarding the reminders and alerts.

Hence it is advised to log in to Apple ID from your iPhone or iPad. Here’s how to go about it:

  1. Go to the Settings app from your iPhone.
  2. Now you will see the Sign In button on the top of the iPhone screen.
  3. Tap the button and follow the steps to sign in to the Apple ID.

8. Activate calendar in iCloud

If you are still unable to receive updates about upcoming events, it may be because the calendar app is no longer syncing with iCloud. So, sign in to your Apple account and enable calendar sync. Follow these steps.

Open the Settings app and tap on your name at the top of the screen.
Tap on the iCloud option, and then the Calendar option.
make sure that the toggle switch for the Calendar is set to the On position.

9. Ensure your time zone is correct

The calendar works on the time zone chosen on your iPhone. So if your iPhone is configured for the wrong time zone, you are bound to face issues with the calendar app. This is because the calendar app will alert you at a different time than the local time zone or refuse to work at all.

So go ahead and configure the correct time zone for your iPhone and see if the calendar events are working fine as intended.

10. Toggle off Time Zone Override

By default, your iPhone 13 will automatically change time zones as you move about the country. time zone. We recommend turning off time zone override to ensure that your phone’s calendar displays events based on the current clock settings.

Go to the Home screen, open the Settings icon and select Calendar. On the Calendar settings screen, tap Time Zone Override. Tap the button next to Time Zone Override to disable it.

11. Install the latest iOS update

  1. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
  2. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now.

12. Check iCloud Calendar server status

Check the system status of Calendar to check for services outages or connection issues.

13. Set Default Alert Time

Make sure that you have selected a Default Alert Time for Calendar Events.

  1. Go to Settings > Calendar > Default Alert Times > tap on Events.
  2. On the next screen, select any Default Alert Time (Minutes, Days, Weeks, etc.) that suits your own requirements.
