KEY TAKEAWAYS

If Siri isn’t working on your iPhone 15 Pro:

  • Make sure Siri is properly set up and recognizes your voice.
  • Make sure your iPhone’s microphone is clean and functional.
  • Disconnect any earbuds or headphones that are connected to your iPhone if you’re not using them for input.
  • Restarting your iPhone may also help.

Siri is one of the most widely used features on iPhones—for a good reason. You can use it to set reminders, send messages, search the web, and more, which is why it has become very popular among Apple users. But with such a complex personal assistant, problems can arise from time to time.

If Siri isn’t working on your iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, or iPhone 15 Pro Max, follow the steps in this guide to fix it.

What to do if Siri isn’t working on your iPhone 15 Pro

1. Speak clearly

If Siri has trouble understanding you, the problem could be with your request. With any virtual assistant, it’s imperative to speak clearly and plainly. Siri is best used for straightforward requests, such as, "What’s the weather?" or "Call Mom."

2. Make sure Siri is turned on

It’s possible Siri is disabled on your iPhone 15 Pro. You might have turned it off and forgotten to turn it back on, for example. Here is how you can check if Siri is enabled on your iPhone 15 Pro:

  • Head over to Settings > Siri & Search. And make sure that the following settings are toggled on:
    • Listen for, "Siri" or "Hey Siri".
    • Press Side Button for Siri.
    • And also, if you want Siri to work when your iPhone 15 Pro is locked, also enable Allow Siri When Locked.

It is possible that you do not see the Siri options in Settings. There are two possible reasons for this:

  • Siri may not be available where you live. Siri is not available in all countries.
  • Siri may be disabled in Restrictions. To check this: Head over to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Allowed Apps. Make sure that Siri & Dictation is allowed.

3. Make Sure Siri Is Not Restricted On Your iPhone 15 Pro

If Siri is still not working on your iPhone 15 Pro, make sure that the virtual assistant is not restricted in Screen Time. Screen Time not only stops Siri from doing web searches, but also lets you block inappropriate language. Here’s how to check and remove the restriction:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Screen Time.
  3. Select Content & Privacy Restrictions.
  4. Tap Content Restrictions.
  5. Tap Siri.
  6. Make sure to allow Siri to perform tasks without any limitations.

4. Disconnect your Bluetooth headphones or speakers

People often have their iPhones set to automatically connect to one or more Bluetooth audio devices when one of them switches on. If a device has a microphone — like headphones, certain speakers, or even your car — Siri may start listening to it for input, which is obviously a problem when you’re trying to talk directly to your phone.

To rule out this issue, make sure any mic-equipped Bluetooth devices are powered off or disconnected if you’re not using them.

To forcibly disconnect Bluetooth devices from your iPhone:

  1. Start the Settings app.
  2. Tap Bluetooth.
  3. Tap the** "i" (info) button** next to a device you want to disconnect.
  4. Choose Disconnect for a temporary release, or Forget This Device if you want to prevent it from reconnecting. You’ll have to re-pair if you choose to forget.

5. Turn on ‘Always Listen’ in Accessibility

If you want Siri to respond to you whenever your phone is nearby, there is a setting in Accessibility for you to turn on. If you don’t turn this on, Siri will not respond unless your iPhone is face-up and uncovered. You can also choose to keep this setting turned off if you like the option of turning off "Hey Siri" just by turning your iPhone face-down.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on Accessibility.
  3. Tap on Siri.
  4. Toggle the switch next to "Always Listen for ‘Hey Siri’."
  5. If you like, you can also select Alwaysunder "Spoken Responses" so that Siri will respond even when Silent Mode is on.

6. Turn on Location Services

Is Siri not giving you local results? Siri needs to know your location to answer questions about the weather, directions, and other issues. Turn on Location Services for Siri to work properly. Here’s how:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Privacy & Security.
  3. Tap Location Services.
  4. Turn on Location Services.
  5. Scroll down and tap Siri & Dictation.
  6. Select While Using the App.

7. Toggle iPhone dictation off and back on

Some Siri problems on iPhone 15 Pro Max may be caused by issues with the dictation feature, the tool that sends voice input to Apple to process your requests. Toggle dictation off and back on. Here’s how:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap Keyboard.
  4. Scroll to the bottom to Enable Dictation.
  5. If Dictation is already enabled, toggle it off.
  6. Restart your iPhone. See the next troubleshooting step to learn how to restart your iPhone.
  7. Once it is powered back on, go back into your settings and toggle Dictation back on and test to see if the iPhone 15 Pro Siri problem is fixed.

8. Restart your iPhone

If your Siri was working fine but just hasn’t been responding to you lately, try restarting your iPhone. Here’s how:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap on General,
  3. Scroll down and tap on Shutdown.
  4. Drag the slider from left to right to shut down your iPhone.
  5. To turn on your phone, press the side button until the Apple logo appears.

9. Does your iPhone have an active internet connection?

Siri requires an Internet connection to perform most tasks. You may try the following tips:

  • Restart your iPhone 15 Pro (see the previous troubleshooting step regarding how you can restart your iPhone).
  • Enable Airplane Mode and wait for about one minute and then disable it by going to Settings > Airplane Mode.
  • Reset your network settings by going to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note that when you reset network settings, your current settings will be erased like your Wi-Fi passwords, etc.
  • Restart your modem/router.
Please also note that Siri may not work if your Internet connection is very slow.

10. Update iOS

If Siri is still not working, make sure that your iPhone 15 Pro is running the latest version iOS. Here’s how:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Select Software Update.
  4. If an update is available, tap Download and Install.

11. Is your microphone working?

Siri might struggle to hear and understand you if there’s a problem with your iPhone 15 Pro microphone. Make sure that your microphone isn’t blocked by a poorly fitting case, screen protector, dust, dirt, or lint. Test your microphone. Simply record a video, and then watch your video. If you can detect your voice clearly, then Siri can hear you too. If not, it is possible that your microphone may not be working properly:

If you have a protective case, try removing it then test again.
Clean your microphone because your microphone holes may be blocked with debris and dust. You may use a soft toothbrush. You may also use a can of compressed air to clean.

12. Check Siri Language

If Siri is still not working on your iPhone 15 Pro, check the virtual assistant language. For Siri to understand you when you speak, you must select the correct language from the options in your iPhone settings. Here’s how:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Siri & Search.
  3. Tap Language.
  4. Pick your language from the list.

13. Check the Siri servers

As hard as it is to believe, sometimes Apple services go down too. It’s a rare occurrence, but it can happen, so if Siri is still not working on your iPhone 15 Pro, visit the Apple Support System Status website to see if Siri is experiencing a problem on Apple’s end. If so, it’s a waiting game to see when Apple will fix the issue.

14. Retrain Siri to recognize your voice

It’s possible that Siri is not working on your iPhone 15 Pro because it doesn’t recognize your voice. This is easy to fix; all you have to do is retrain Siri to recognize your voice. Here’s how:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap on Siri & Search.
  3. Tap on "Listen for, “Siri” or ‘Hey Siri’,".
  4. Select Off.
  5. then toggle it back on.
  6. You will see the "Hey Siri" setup screen. Tap on Continue.
  7. Using a normal speaking voice, say aloud each of the commands shown on the screen.
  8. Tap Done when the "’Hey Siri’ Is Ready" page appears.

15. Contact Apple Support

If Siri is still not working on your iPhone 15 Pro, contact Apple support for further help. Apple offers many resources through its website and the Apple Support app. Alternatively, visit the Genius Bar, or find a local Authorized Apple Service Provider.
