There’s a “No Service” error on your iPhone 14 Plus and you don’t know why. No matter what you do, you can’t connect to a cellular network. In this article, I’ll explain how to fix the problem when you experience an iPhone 14 Plus “No Service” error.
Note: information in this article apply to iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
If your iPhone 14 Plus says “No Service” or “searching,” it means that the device is not able to connect to a cellular network. In addition, when iPhone 14 Plus says No Service or Searching, it means you can’t make or receive calls, send or receive text messages, or use cellular data. The only way to access the Internet is by connecting to a Wi-Fi network.
If you see No Service or Searching on your iPhone 14 Plus, or if you can’t connect to a cellular network or cellular data, learn what to do.
Why does my iPhone 14 Plus say No Service or Searching?
There are many reasons why your iPhone 14 Plus could say No Service or Searching, including the following:
- You’re outside of your cellphone carrier’s network.
- There’s a network outage in your area.
- Airplane Mode is turned on.
- There’s a problem with your SIM card.
- Your iPhone needs a software or carrier settings update.
- There’s a problem with your carrier account.
- Your network settings need to be reset.
- Your iPhone is damaged.
How to fix iPhone 14 Plus No Service error
1. If Your iPhone 14 Plus Says no service, Check Your Coverage Area
The first thing you should do when your iPhone 14 Plus has no service is to make sure that you’re in an area where your service provider has cell towers to provide you coverage. If you’re out in the middle of nowhere and you know that there’s not a cell tower anywhere near you, then you’re going to need to change locations before you can resolve the problem of No Service on iPhone 14 Plus. If you’re surrounded by mountains or you’re at a much higher elevation than normal, expect to experience this problem as well.
2. Restarting Your Device Can Get Rid of a No Service Message
If your iPhone 14 Plus has no service, a restart might help. Restarting your device can often fix minor software glitches that might interfere with cellular network. So, try restarting your iPhone to clear out any software issues that could be causing your iPhone 14 Plus to show No Service.
Press and hold the side button and either volume button. Keep holding the buttons until you see Slide To Power Off appear on your screen.
Once you see the Slide To Power Off display, slide the red power icon from left to right to turn off your iPhone. Once your iPhone powers down, press and hold the side button button to turn it back on.
3. Toggle Airplane Mode if Your iPhone 14 Plus Says No service
Many times, setting errors are the reason why your iPhone says no service. While it sounds silly, it’s normal to forget certain things. After a long flight with “Airplane mode” turned on, you may have just forgotten to turn it off. Another possibility is that you could’ve turned it on by accident and never noticed it. To turn Airplane Mode off:
- Open Settings.
- Check the Airplane Mode icon. If it’s turned on, the switch next to it will be green. Tap the switch to turn it off.
You can also try turning Airplane Mode off and on a few times to clear out any signal issues preventing your iPhone 14 Plus from getting service. Make sure to leave Airplane Mode in the off position when you finish.
4. Enable Cellular Data if Your iPhone 14 Plus Says No Service
When your iPhone is loose and unlocked, you can accidentally push buttons that can interfere with your cellular data. When this happens, your iPhone may not be able to receive signals, causing it to show No Service. To check the status of your cellular data:
- Open Settings.
- Tap Cellular, then check the Cellular Data setting (if your iPhone is set to British English instead of English, it will say Mobile Data). If Cellular Data is turned off, the switch next to it will be gray.
You may also want to turn your Cellular Data off and on a few times, making sure that the switch is green, or in the on position, when you finish.
5. My iPhone 14 Plus Says No Service: Eject and Reinsert Your SIM Card
Your iPhone’s SIM card is the piece of technology that stores your phone number, allows you to connect to your wireless carrier’s network, and much more. When iPhone 14 Plus displays a “No Service” error, sometimes removing and reinserting your SIM card can give it a fresh start and second chance to connect to your wireless carrier’s network correctly.
- If your iPhone has a physical SIM, scan the edges of your device to locate your SIM card tray, which looks like a thin oval with a small hole on the inside.
- Insert a small paperclip or SIM-eject tool (usually located in the box your iPhone came in) into the hole until the tray ejects.
- Remove your SIM card. Use a dry, microfiber cloth to clean your SIM card, then reinsert it in the tray making sure to match the notch in the card to the notch in the tray (your SIM card will only go into the tray one way).
- Pop the tray back into the oval slot and restart your iPhone.
If your SIM card appears to be damaged, contact your carrier to get a new one.
6. If Your iPhone 14 Plus Says No Service, a Carrier Update Could be the Fix
Our next step when iPhone 14 Plus shows no service error is to check for a carrier settings update. Apple and your wireless carrier release updates in order to help your iPhone connect to your wireless carrier’s network more efficiently.
Usually when a carrier settings update is available, you’ll receive a pop-up on your iPhone that says “Carrier Settings Update”. Whenever this pop-up appears on your iPhone, always tap Update.
You can also manually check for a carrier settings update by going to Settings > General > About. If a carrier settings update is available, a pop-up will appear on your display within 15 seconds. If no pop-up appears, there probably isn’t a carrier settings update available, so let’s move onto the next step.
7. Does Your iPhone 14 Plus Still Say No Service? Try an iOS Update
Your iPhone 14 Plus may also say No Service or Searching because it’s running an older version of iOS. From time to time, Apple releases iOS updates to fix various issues and introduce new features. It’s always a smart idea to update when new versions arrive. To check for an iOS update:
- Plug your iPhone into your charger and connect to Wi-Fi.
- Tap Settings > General > Software Update. If a software update is available, tap Download and Install. If a message pops up asking to temporarily remove apps, tap Continue.
- If prompted, enter your passcode. The software update will start automatically.
8. Resetting the Network Settings Can Fix an iPhone 14 Plus No Service Error
If iPhone 14 Plus still shows “No Service” error after you’ve updated iOS, it’s time to troubleshoot for a more significant software issue. When you reset network settings, all of your Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Cellular, and VPN settings are restored to factory defaults. After resetting the network settings, it’ll be like you’re connecting your iPhone to your carrier’s cellular network for the very first time.
To Reset Network Settings on an iPhone, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Then, tap Reset Network Settings when the confirmation pop-up appears.
After tapping reset network settings, your iPhone will restart. When your iPhone turns back on, the network settings have been reset!
9. A Factory Reset Can Stop an iPhone 14 Plus No Service Message
If all of the fixes on this list don’t work and you still can’t find the issue, your last resort is to opt for a factory reset. A factory data reset might be the solution for a connection problem you couldn’t find no matter how hard you look for it.
Before you perform a factory reset, make sure to back up all of your important files as the reset will erase all data stored on your phone. Once you’ve performed a backup, follow the steps below.
- Open the Settings app.
- Select General.
- Tap Transfer or Reset iPhone.
- Hit Erase all content and settings.
10. If Your iPhone 14 Plus Still Says No Service, Contact Your Wireless Carrier
If you’ve made it this far and your iPhone 14 Plus shows “Mo Service” error, it’s time to contact your wireless carrier. It’s possible that your iPhone has no service because your wireless carrier is doing maintenance on their cell towers. Search for your carrier’s customer support number and give them a call to see if they can help you fix the problem.

11. iPhone 14 Plus Still Say No Service? Get Help From Apple
There are times when you’ve done everything and nothing has solved the issue, not even a complete factory reset. If this happens to you, then the problem might not be your settings or your operating system. Sometimes, the no service on iPhone 14 Plus is brought about by hardware problems.
If you’ve done everything, from soft reset to a complete factory reset but your iPhone 14 Plus still says no service or Searching, it may be best to visit your nearest Apple Store. Have the technicians go under the hood of your device and see if your problem lies there.
