Hulu not working on iPhone 14 Pro? 11 Best Fixes!

Last Updated: November 1, 2022 by Moses Gitari

Hulu is an on-demand video streaming platform that has been around for more than a decade. It’s one of the best and largest streaming platforms in the United States, with more than 40 million subscribers. But do you sometimes find Hulu not working on iPhone 14 Pro? With so many users paying for the service, coming across issues can be a real problem. In this article, I’ll explain why Hulu is not working on iPhone 14 Pro and show you how to fix the problem.

Like any internet service, Hulu is susceptible to an array of possible problems, any of which can keep you from catching up with the latest episode of “What We Do In the Shadows.” If Hulu is not working on your iPhone 14 Pro, here are the most common troubleshooting steps to get back up and running as quickly as possible.

How to fix Hulu not working ON iPhone 14 Pro

Note: information in this article apply to iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

1. Is Hulu down?

If Hulu is down, your first thought might be that something is wrong with your device or internet, but that’s not always the case. While a rare occurrence, sometimes Hulu’s servers go down, causing widespread blackouts on the service. Check if this is what’s going on before trying anything else.

There is no official status page, but you can use a website like DownDetector. This page collects consumer reports to figure out if a service is down. There’s even a live outage map to identify local blackouts.

If Hulu is down, the only solution is to sit tight and wait it out. The service usually comes back online relatively soon, so you shouldn’t be waiting for too long.

2. Close and reopen Hulu

If Hulu isn’t the problem, then it must be something local. The simplest solution to try is closing and reopening the app or browser. This often irons out any random bugs or issues the software may have. Try this if you’re having issues with Hulu not working on iPhone 14 Pro. Swipe up from the bottom of your screen to bring up the app switcher. Find the Hulu app and swipe up on it to close the app.

3. Have you reached the active streaming limit?

If you share the account with other family members or roommates, there is a chance you have reached the limit of active simultaneous streams. The amount of devices that can stream simultaneously varies depending on your plan. A Hulu subscription is meant to be for a single household. As such, the service doesn’t want you streaming on many devices simultaneously. This could be the reason for Hulu not working for you.

Is there anyone else using your Hulu account? Maybe more than one other person? Hulu only allows you to stream with two devices simultaneously. If you want to stream on your device, you’ll have to ask other users to stop streaming.

Also, you might want to get the Unlimited Screen add-on, which is only available for Live TV subscribers. It costs an extra $9.99 a month, but it will allow you to stream live TV on as many devices as you wish, as long as they are within the same household.

4. Try restarting your iPhone

This trusted troubleshooting method seems to work like magic. It’s been known to fix many issues and is one of the first fixes you should try when Hulu is not working on your iPhone 14 Pro. Restart the device and see if Hulu is back up and running. This can usually be done by pressing and holding the Side button and either of the volume buttons. Drag the power off slider from left to right to turn off your iPhone.

5. Update the app

Running an older version of the Hulu app is usually no problem, but sometimes more significant updates can leave older versions with issues. Not to mention updates tend to come with bug fixes and performance improvements. Just check if there are any Hulu updates available.

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Tap on your profile image in the top-right corner.
  3. Find Hulu. If there’s an available update, you should see an Update button next to it. Tap on it.
  4. Alternatively, you can select Update all.

6. Update iOS

Similarly, running an older software version of iOS may also be the reason for Hulu not working on iPhone 14 Pro. Just check if there are any available updates.

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Go into General.
  3. Hit Software Update.
  4. You’ll be told if there is an update available. Suppose there is; select Download and install.
  5. Follow instructions and let the phone update.
  6. Try using Hulu again!

7. Is your internet working?

Hulu not working on iPhone 14 Pro could be due to your internet connection having problems. The easiest way to see if the problem lies on the device you’re using or elsewhere is to try watching it on another device. Hulu not working on your iPhone 14 Pro? Start the Hulu app on your TV. Or try watching it in a browser on your laptop. If Hulu isn’t working on two different devices – but Downdetector doesn’t report any issues – then your Internet problems are a common reason for Hulu not working on iPhone 14 Pro. For starters, really slow internet won’t cut it for streaming on Hulu. Hulu recommends using at least 3Mbps internet download speeds. Make sure your internet is at least at that level.

You should also check if your internet is working, overall. Test other apps that require the internet to work and see if they’re operating correctly. You can also do something as simple as doing a Google search. You can also check if another device in the same network is operational. If Hulu isn’t the only thing having problems, then you could be running into internet problems.

If you’re using a Wi-Fi connection, try restarting the router. There’s often a dedicated button for this, but unplugging the router and plugging it back in works too.

If you’re using cellular data, you might want to see if your data connection is on:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Go into Cellular.
  3. Toggle Cellular data on.

8. Is the network blocking Hulu?

If you’re using a public network or someone’s Wi-Fi, there is a chance Hulu not working on iPhone 14 Pro is due to a network blockage. Administrators often disable access to streaming services. This is especially the case in libraries and schools, for example. Maybe worried parents don’t want their kids watching Hulu movies!

If this is why Hulu is not working on iPhone 14 Pro, your only solution is to ask the administrator to lift the ban on the service. Or you can move back to your own mobile data.

9. Check your device location and VPN settings

All video streaming services have geographical restrictions, but Hulu is especially known for its strict location rules. The service is only available in the USA. This does include Puerto Rico and US military bases.

If you’re anywhere outside USA borders, then that’s why you’re having issues with Hulu not working on iPhone 14 Pro. Your only real solution is to go back to the States.

Additionally, those using a VPN for security or location purposes might also come across issues. Streaming services don’t like VPNs and have ways to detect them. This means that, if you’re using a virtual private network, even if within the USA, you might be blocked off Hulu.

10. Log out and back into the Hulu

Some iPhone 14 Pro Hulu problems can be easily solved by signing into Hulu anew. If you’re already signed into Hulu, first sign out and then sign in again. find your account icon and select Sign Out, then sign in again.

11. Uninstall and reinstall Hulu app

Finally, if all else fails, it might be possible to solve your problem by uninstalling the Hulu app and reinstalling it. This may eliminate any glitchy software that was interfering with your ability to use the app. Remember that you’ll need to sign in again using your account credentials.

Fixed Hulu not working on iPhone 14 Pro issue

If Hulu is not working on iPhone 14 Pro, these steps should help you troubleshoot any problems.

If you confirm that the Hulu service is working by checking Downdetector, you can close and reopen the app to see if that fixes the problem.
You should also check to see if Hulu works on another device; if not, you might have an issue with your internet connection or Wi-Fi speed.
Logging out and back into the app may also help. Finally, try uninstalling and reinstalling Hulu altogether.
