AutoFill Passwords Not Working on iPhone 13? Here’s How to Fix it

Your iPhone saves the password securely in iCloud Keychain and makes it available on all your Apple devices. However, you may find that the passwords autofill feature isn’t working on your iPhone 13. Fortunately, there are a number of ways to fix system glitches and setting adjustments that can make your iPhone 13 AutoFill Passwords feature functional again. In this article, I’ll explain why AutoFill passwords is not working on your iPhone 13 an show you how to fix the problem for good!

Ways to Fix AutoFill Passwords Not Working Issue on iPhone 13

Here is what you can do to troubleshoot and get the password autofill back working on your iPhone 13.

Note: information in this article apply to iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Ensure AutoFill Passwords Is Enabled.

The first step to identify why AutoFill Passwords does not work on your iPhone 13 is to check if the feature is turned on in the first place. This can be done by searching through your settings.

Follow the steps below to do so:

  1. Begin by launching the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Then, go to Passwords
  3. . From there, tap on AutoFill Passwords.
  4. If not already, turn on the toggle next to AutoFill Passwords to enable it.
  5. Make sure allow filling from iCloud Keychain is selected.

Ensure That iCloud Keychain is Enabled

As mentioned above, AutoFill passwords feature is integrated with “iCloud Keychain”. So, be sure it’s turned on your iPhone 13.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone > your profile and choose iCloud.
  2. Now, tap on Keychain and then turn on iCloud Keychain.

Now, try to auto-fill passwords in any app or website to see if the issue has been fixed. If it has, you are good to go. But if the luck hasn’t smiled, move on to the next hack.

Force Restart iPhone

Your next option to fix Safari AutoFill Passwords not working on iPhone 13 is to reboot your device. A fresh start will flush any minor glitches and could easily solve the issue for you.

  1. Quickly press and release Volume Up button.
  2. Quickly press and release Volume Down button.
  3. Next, press and hold the Side Button until the white Apple logo is displayed on the iPhone’s screen. Release and be patient until the iPhone force restarts.

Turn off Private Browsing

When private browsing is enabled, Safari doesn’t save account names and passwords. So, if this mode is active, be sure to disable it as it might be preventing the AutoFill from working properly.

  1. Open Safari on your device. Then, tap on the tabs icon > Tab Groups.
  2. Now, tap on Private at the bottom left corner and then tap on Done at the bottom right of the screen to confirm.

Check That the AutoFill Toggles for Contact Info and Credit Cards Are Enabled

Maybe you (or anyone of your family) had mistakenly disabled AutoFill toggles for contact info and credit cards in Safari settings and forgot to turn them on. As they are essential, make sure to turn them on.

  1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone> Safari > AutoFill.
  2. Now, turn on the toggles for Use Contact Info and Credit Cards.

Turn off/on AutoFill and Check Your Saved Websites/Apps Passwords

If the problem is yet to be solved, give the system-wide AutoFill toggle a reboot. Also, check out all the saved website and app passwords to ensure they are correct.

  1. Launch Settings app > Passwords
  2. Now, tap on a specific account and edit it (if needed).
  3. Next, go back and turn off the AutoFill Passwords toggle. Then, restart your iPhone. After that, return to this setting and turn on the AutoFill Passwords switch.

Update Your iPhone

If none of the above solutions have resolved AutoFill passwords not working issue on your iPhone 13, go for the software update. It might well be the answer to this problem just like other issues on iPhone 13 such as Wi-Fi issues and Bluetooth issues. But before hopping into the Settings, make sure your device has around 50% power and is connected to Wi-Fi. Go to Settings app > General > Software Update. Then, install the latest update.

Factory Reset Your iPhone

If all of the above procedures fail to solve the problem, your last option is to reset the device to factory settings. Note that this will erase the files in your iPhone. So, it’s best to back up all of your data on either iTunes or iCloud before performing a reset.

Then, follow the steps mentioned below:

  1. To begin, launch the Settings app on your device.
  2. Then, go to General and tap on Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  3. From the given options, tap on Erase All Content and Settings.
  4. You’ll then be asked to enter your passcode for confirmation.
  5. Once the reset is complete, set up your device and recover data from backup.
