Ways to fix YouTube not working on iPhone 14 Pro
1. Check if YouTube is down
The first reason why YouTube might not be working on your iPhone 14 Pro is that the app itself might be down. In that case, it’s not just you who is experiencing problems. We recommend visiting DownDetector’s YouTube page as it provides 24h volumetric data on the most reported issues.
You can also see a map of live outages in your area and track progress updates for when YouTube is back up and running.
You can also get the info straight from the horse’s mouth by going to the official YouTube Twitter account. Chances are any outage will be reported there.
When YouTube has major downtime, news outlets will also report on it. The quickest way to check is by going to Google News and searching for “YouTube down” or “YouTube outage”.
If YouTube is down, there’s nothing you can do but to wait it out.
Have you established that YouTube seems to be working for others? If so, move on to the next solution.
2. Close and reopen the YouTube app
Sometimes closing the YouTube app and starting it up again is all it takes to resolve the issue. Don’t just swipe up from the bottom of your iPhone’s screen; make sure to close the app entirely before relaunching it.
3. Update the YouTube App
Always ensure you are running the most recent version of the app to have the latest software. Otherwise, YouTube won’t work on iPhone 14 Pro.
Open the App Store and tap your profile. If you see YouTube on this list, tap Update.
4. Update iOS
Your operating system may be outdated and thus YouTube is unable to run correctly.
Go to Settings > General > Software Update and download and install an update if there’s one available.
5. Restart your iPhone
It’s always the first troubleshooting solution we recommend! A simple restart can magically get everything up and running for reasons we don’t quite understand. It may seem silly, but it’s worth a try! Go to Settings > General > Shut Down.
6. Check your internet connection
The next thing to try if YouTube is not working on your iPhone 14 Pro is to check your internet connection. A weak Wi-FI signal is often the culprit, so test other apps that need an internet connection to operate and see if they work. Open the browser and Google anything. If nothing else works properly, then you might be offline.
Check if your Wi-Fi is on, or if you maybe turned Airplane Mode on by accident. Those using Wi-Fi or LAN should look at the router and see if it’s connected. Are other devices working? Try restarting the router. There’s usually a dedicated button, but unplugging and plugging the router back in works too.
If you’re using cellular data, you might want to see if your data connection is on:
- Open the Settings app.
- Go into Cellular.
- Toggle Cellular Data on.
If you’re outside your country or network coverage, also toggle Roaming on (this may incur extra charges).
7. Check your date and time settings
It may seem odd, but the date and time settings could be a reason for iPhone 14 Pro YouTube not working. Google’s servers might be having trouble syncing with them if you don’t set them correctly.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap on General.
- Go into Date & time.
- Toggle on Set automatically.
8. Is the network blocking YouTube?
Sometimes there are network restrictions on YouTube and other services. This is common to see when using the internet from schools, libraries, or other places where administrators don’t want you watching random cat videos. It could also result from careful parents who limit their kids’ YouTube activity.
Talk to the network administrator and ask if any YouTube restrictions exist. The only solution to this problem would be to ask the administrator to allow YouTube access. You can also switch to data or use another available network.
9. Disable your VPN
Plenty of users have reported that YouTube won’t work on their iPhone 14 Pro when a VPN is enabled. Have you tried deactivating these (if you are using them)? If you’re using a VPN app, you can go into the app and turn off your secure connection. If you added the VPN manually, you can go into the Settings and turn it off.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap on General.
- Tap on VPN & Device Management.
- Disable any active VPN.
10. Delete and reinstall YouTube app
If YouTube is still not working on your iPhone 14 Pro after trying the above solutions, delete the app and install it again. After installing a new copy, open YouTube, and test to see if the app is working.
