Telegram is a cross platform mobile messaging app for smart phones and tablets for iOS, Android and several other platforms. Telegram allows users to send and receive messages, photos, secure conversations and other information and is considered an alternative to text messages or SMS. We can understand how a Telegram outage may cause frustration, so we’re here to tell you about some common troubleshooting fixes to get the app up and running again.
Note: information in this article apply to iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
1. Check if Telegram is down
You might not be the only one having issues with Telegram not working on iPhone 14 Pro. One of the first things to check is if Telegram, overall, is down. You can double-check if Telegram is down by using Down Detector, a site that tracks all kinds of services and tells you whether they are down or not.
Just go to Down Detector’s Telegram page, and the site will tell you whether Telegram is having issues or not. They even have a Live Outage Map to check local problems.
2. Close and re-open Telegram
If Telegram has no general issues, then the problem might emerge from a software discrepancy. Try closing the Telegram app and re-opening it again. This action might put all the gears back in place and get everything in order again.
- Bring up all the open apps on the Home Screen by sSwiping up from the bottom of your iPhone screen and hold.
- Swipe up the Telegram app card to force quit it.
Now, open the Telegram app again. This should fix Telegram app not working on iPhone 14 Pro issue. If that doesn’t help, move onto the next solution.
3. Update the Telegram app
Running an older version of an app isn’t often an issue, but it can bring problems, especially when significant changes are put in place. Go into the App Store and see if there are any updates for Telegram. Get the latest version and try again!
- Open the App Store.
- Search for “Telegram”
- If there is an available update, you’ll see an Update button. Otherwise, it will say Open.
- Tap Update if it’s available.
4. Delete and reinstall the Telegram app
Over time, the app collects and stores data on your device. This might include bugs in the code. Reinstalling the app can help get rid of those issues altogether.
- From the iPhone home screen, touch and hold the Telegram app icon.
- A menu will appear on your iPhone screen with a few options like Search, Edit Home Screen, etc.
- Select Delete App > tap Delete to confirm the action.
- Launch the App Store > tap Search at the bottom right > type Telegram and download the app.
5. Restart your iPhone
It often seems like a silly suggestion, but for some reason, something as simple as restarting your iPhone can usually get everything back in working order. Give it a try! Just reboot your iPhone and try again.
Press and hold the Side and either of the volume buttons. Then drag the power off slider.
Alternatively, if volume buttons are not working on your iPhone 14 Pro, go to the Settings app > General > Shut Down.
Now, switch on your iPhone by pressing and holding the side button. After this, launch the Telegram app again and check if it’s working properly.
6. Update your iPhone
Likewise, running an older version of your iOS can also cause issues with certain apps and services. It doesn’t hurt to check!
- Open the Settings app.
- Go into General.
- Hit Software Update.
- You’ll be told if there is an update available. Suppose there is, select Download and install.
- Follow instructions and let the iPhone update.
- Try using Telegram again!
7. Check your internet
There’s a chance your internet connection is the culprit. A quick way to verify this is to test another app that uses the internet, or open the browser and launch any website. If nothing else is working, the problem is likely not Telegram, but your internet.
If you’re using a cellular connection, try switching to Wi-Fi. Likewise, move to data if you’re using Wi-Fi. Try moving closer to the router, or you can try restarting it.
If you’re using cellular data, you might want to see if your data connection is on:
- Open the Settings app.
- Go into Cellular.
- Toggle Cellular data on.
8. Do you use a VPN?
If you’re concerned about security and privacy, chances are you’re also a VPN fan. Virtual private networks are great, but they can sometimes interfere with Telegram, which could be the reason for Telegram not working on iPhone 14 Pro. Try turning it off and see if Telegram works after that.
9. Reset iPhone to factory settings
If all else fails, you might want to try resetting your iPhone to factory settings. This will wipe your device clean and delete all data, so make sure to back up your files before performing a factory reset. This is a bit of an extreme method and should only be used as a last resort.
Make sure your device is plugged in or has enough battery to go through the reset process.
- Open the Settings app.
- Select General.
- Go into Transfer or Reset iPhone.
- Hit Erase all content and settings.
